Sophomore Erik Moberg's run at the 2013 USTA/ITA South Regional Championships came to an end on Sunday in New Orleans, La., on the final day of the event.

Moberg was defeated in the singles semifinals by Auburn Montgomery junior Othmane Lalami, 6-4, 6-4.

The Stockholm, Sweden native had captured three victories on his way to a semifinals appearance, including topping two-time NAIA All-American and top-seeded Nicolas Pinones of AUM.

Moberg was one of three Grizzlies to reach the quarterfinal round.

"I'm very proud of Eric and the rest of our players for their performances this weekend," said GGC head coach Chase Hodges. "We measured up well against some of the best programs in the nation and this will give us an idea of what we need to do to compete on the national stage in the spring."

In women's action, GGC's doubles tandem of Rocio Fernandez and Victoria Svennson met their end at the hands of top-seeded Kourtney Howell and Brion Flowers of host Xavier University of Louisiana, 8-5.

The Georgia Gwinnett pair had claimed two wins in the draw, playing their way into the semifinal round on Sunday.

The Grizzlies are now off until Hodges' squads host the inaugural Grizzly Open, Oct. 18-20 at the GGC Tennis Facility in Lawrenceville.
